Help Us Grow
Help us grow!
Your generous gifts are essential to help maintain and improve the Botany Garden and Greenhouse!
Our facilities and programs are funded by an extremely small operating budget that comes from student fees and tuition. We run a very efficient operation, but depend on gift funds to supplement our budget, make repairs, improve facilities, and help fund student employment.

When you contribute to our Botany Garden and Gift Fund, your gift of $600 or more to the Botany Garden & Greenhouse allows you to receive a Commemorative Tile that will be placed in the Botany Garden, if you so choose.
If you would like a commemorative tile, please contact the Botany Garden & Greenhouse at streekstra < @ > wisc.edu.

The Botany Garden and Greenhouse depends on gift funding. Some of the ways we use gift funds include:
$1000- Annual cost of white cedar and shredded bark mulch which helps preserve soil moisture and prevent weed germination in the Botany Garden.
$700- one LED fixture to replace old, inefficient High Pressure Sodium grow lights in our research greenhouse.
$80.00- one pair of heavy-duty pruning shears with belt holster. These are essential for pruning and maintaining our garden and extensive greenhouse collections.
$400.00- a case of 6 LED strip lights will provide extra day length and light intensity for a single bench in our production areas.
$57.00- a single bale of potting media. We use a few dozen each year to maintain our greenhouse collection and produce plants for classes.
$135.00- a case of nine 17″ diameter clay pots for maintaining our permanent plant collection in the greenhouses.
$7,500- funds to support one student hourly position for at ten hours per week. Student help is critical to support our operations. We require the equivalent of one full-time student assistant year-round.
